I am a native Los Angeles artist. My mixed media approach
combines paper, artist markers, lights, and most recently, motors and audio, in
the creation of illuminated three-dimensional works. They are a fusion of two-dimensional images that are layered
in space and sculptural elements, all housed in boxes. I incorporate
both realism and fantasy to produce pieces through which I not only process
life, but seek to share it as well.
The myriad of possibilities available through the usage of
lights is a driving force for what I come up with in my pieces: from simulated
fireworks to a flickering firefly lantern to a lightning storm.
Light appeals to me for its transformative and alluring qualities.
I have always loved stories, and the content of my work is
often story driven. My “Smitten” series is a romantic, comic adaptation of the
Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. My toad pieces are based on children’s books, one
of which I have written. Current projects that I am working on are inspired by
song lyrics, folktales, art masterpieces, and cultures.
